Stan Lee's work gave kids the courage to stand up to a shooter in a horrific situation, as is evident by one of them saying "With great power comes great responsibility"

I think you're putting together two things that are mostly unrelated.

Because of the success of Spiderman and Marvel at large, the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" has entered public lexicon. All the Marvel movies released in the past 10 years have been colorful fantasy adventures, with few moral lessons in bravery or responsibility. The comics themselves maybe full of moral dilemmas the characters must navigate and heavy responsibility, but because very few young people read actually read comics, our experience of Marvel has been through those movies. For better or for worse, the experience of Marvel stories for me and people my age has just been a fun (and funny) romp through the world of super heroes, with very little in the way of heavy consequences. So I find it completely incredibly unlikely that anything those people went through would have been influenced by Stan Lee.

To most people of my generation, Marvel represents fun, and funny jokes.

Anyways, that's my two cents.
