If the unity ref states Problem Type: CCC Then anything faulty is covered by us. It is not covered if the machine has been damaged / missing parts / BIOS password / Consumables (remember Batteries are consumables, but covered for the first year of warranty see below)...
If a call is logged with Problem Type NCH = Then it means it’s not on contract so anything wrong with it is chargeable.
REMEMBER OUT OF WARRANTY LAPTOP SCREENS ARE CHARGEABLE.
If you find anything wrong with a machine you are working on / Broken / missing parts - anything listed above, change the call to CCH to indicate there is a chargeable element and state what you have found.
Simon is trying to collect some figures on chargeable kit and has asked if you ever send a part request form to planning (EIT Purchasing Spares G eit.awaitingspares.purchasing@bt.com ) for something that is chargeable please copy him in from now.
He’s going to go through it and reasons why in our meeting.

==Batteries==
Because portable system batteries contain chemicals that degrade over time, reducing their ability to hold a charge, they are considered to be consumable items like printer cartridges rather than permanent system components. For this reason, Dell only offers a one-year warranty for batteries from the day that you receive the equipment, regardless of the warranty expiration date on the computer itself.
==Hard Drives etc== If a customer wants to keep a faulty hard drive to retrieve their data this is chargeable. We generally do not cover data recovery (We have done it in the past as "best endevours").
