Musing for the Day
It's true!
There’s power in the tongue.
Its potential to curse or bless is undeniable.
Sadly, too it can’t be tamed.
However, it is to the Glory of God that we learn to live above the din of every tongue - whether ranged against or set fair towards us. And, to take seriously, only God’s word.
Of course, what that means is that we learn to live by faith. That we remember and hold dear that ”faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.” Hebrews 11.2 (MSG)
It may be that all we hear is the roar of hungry lions. Our lot may be one of fires raging and storms billowing all around us. Still, our attention must be fixed firmly upon the creative word and presence of God to lead us to salvation.
So let us pray for God to give us the grace to live above both the hollow blessings and curses of mere mortals. Grace, to live the life that eclipses all talk from us and about us. Ask for God's help, ”to do justly, and to love mercy, ” and ”don't take yourself too seriously - take God seriously.” Micah 6.8 (KJV & MSG)
