We no longer repair anything for NetworRail - all jobs for PC / Printer / Router faults, kit just needs to be swapped out (Whole unit).
As of 26/09/2024 this commentis on tasks: "This contract is a hardware swap out only , there should be no attempt made to repair any components on site. Printer drivers should only be loaded/reloaded when the printer or terminal itself is replaced , please do not reload printer drivers (Deskside support) by way of gaining a resolution. On all occasions regardless of fault we are to attend with a replacement unit."

Replaced the router (all was OK on-site) and called MBN: jaskaran.4.singh@bt.com however he was unable to log into it, so he advised to put the old router back as it was. Go down "bowden road" past hope cemetery, under a bridge then up some steps. I had difficulty locating the signal box in the dark. When I arrived had to wait for a guy with a key to open a gate then had to walk down the side of the track a fair distance. When in the signal box I asked what the fault was, the duty signaller did not know so he called someone and they said it was just not powered on. We tested it and all worked OK. Took a long time to walk back down the side of the track with a big heavy printer (was not boxed) & had to wait ages again for a guy with a key to come and unlock the gate. Arrived: 10:55 I arrived to find a network cable in the back of the terminal goes straight into a wall port and found one coming out of the cisco router going nowhere so guessing the terminal should be plugged the Cisco router so I plugged the cable into the terminal and was then able to log in with Username: .\btadmin OK. I then logged in with the users credentials but no apps were loading. Called Tech support on 0800 145 6440 Spoke to Jonathan Shephard who advised to try NWR helpdesk 4C's: 01270 721800. The 4c's help desk said they have re-set the users profile and to wait 10 mins before trying again. Still getting the same: A "Network Rail Logon Script Progress" window pops up, maps network drives and says "Launching Network Rail Scripts: Corporate templaces, Paradox, WinVV, Printers, FTF, Personal Details Utility, Ellipse6 Default Configuration. But then says: Restrictions: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. Called NWR helpdesk 4C's: 01270 721800 again (couldn't get through for at least 30 mins)....Helpdesk advised they have re-set the profile again and to wait about 15 mins before trying again (12:50).... I have checked with jonathan.sheppard@bt.com in tech support if this is something I should be doing? Jonathan says: "I dont think so, If its DHCP then router should be connected on network." I advised the terminal is picking up an IP via DHCP, it's connected to the interent. I asked what tests do I need to confirm before I can leave it and tell them to contact their helpdesk? I can log in with the .\btadmin account (What should load up when I log in with that?) Jonathan advised: admin account is only for admin changes like installing printer etc user needs to test everything in user account, remember write filter needs to be red to make changes (involves reboot or two). I have waited a good 15-20 mins but still same when logging in as the user (as per photo attached). Spoke to Jon Dob as Jonathan has gone for lunch.. Jon advised: does it make a difference if you change the write filter is it on the taskbar ? It has a green or light so i assume the write filter is on so changed cannot be made. I have disabled it. (Waiting for terminal to re-boot). Then let the user log in, then put the filter back on. Terminal booted back up but was still same. I have put the original terminal back on the desk and logged in with the users account: cs-lne-sb154 / NewPassword1 and Citrix loads a remote desktop (so the terminal sent out was DOA, and the only fault with this is that it was not connected to the router). Unable to print Print Quality pages in colour), I have replaced both parts sent: HPACNS-3500 & HPACNS-3594. Prints look perfect in black and white. Also the USB port is damaged as the cable has been pulled too tights (It's not quite long enough for where the printer is situated and putting too much strain on it) The USB port is only just hanging on, requires a quote for a Formatter: CF387-60001 FORMATTER BOARD: HPAPCB-5577.

Fault: WYSE Z90 customer says the Wyse terminal is not communicating with printer. Says the printer has already been replaced for same issue. Initial Diagnosis :- Tommy has requested we replace the Wyse terminal if possible but if no stock available then engineer to attend and investigate.. Replaced terminal, (Set fax to automatically answer as it was on manual and they were complaining they had to press a button when a fax came in). All OK, can now print OK. If swapping a 3050 for a M476DN, get user to log off and back on again and see if it selects it? If not log in as:
old creds, Username: .\btadmin Password: BTTest2015 (admin account is only for admin changes like installing printer etc user needs to test everything in user account).
Terminals: [Wyse Terminals] VX0 = can't be imaged as per Nick Hauxwell. he says only S90's at the minute, going to work on a v90 image soon. z90's = Can't be imaged here. OLD Terminals should be on UKrail.net Domain (Presume it's same for new Win10 machines?) (If it's a Z90 Terminal (AKA ZX0Q), then go to see what printers are installed and delete the old one.
(Might be worth carrying a USB optical drive as it might be easier to install the driver from disc if it's a new printer install / swap).

Unable to print from outlook 365. Get an error: "Cannot print unless an item is selected, select an item, and then try to print again." Swapped terminal still getting the same. Help says: "This error may due to a missing or corrupt Outlprnt file. To correct this problem, restart outlook." Prints OK from everything else, prints OK from my laptop. Will not print from outlook. Guess it's a profile issue. call 4C's ref: 7526757, they agree it's a citrix profile issue and confirmed I could leave site as they will look into it and speak to the user.
Q: Is a S.90 terminal interchangeable with a Z.90 on network rail. Using a 3050 printer ? A: No it was only the newer printer that worked with the z90 [Elaine Garner] says: "Z90 work ok with HP3050 but do not work with M1217" Jon Dobb: "Depends how NWR has set them up."

If I need to set up a networked printer on a HP 8200 Elite SFF PC (Printer is set to DHCP): called helpdesk 4C's (They said don't need an admin account, just log in as user and browse for the printer) Waiting for PC to log in (it's very slow!), adding drivers and its asking for admin account details. Ended up using the driver disk that came with the printer, all 4C's had to do was type the admin credentials in remotely. Printer configured on the two PCs in the signal box OK. Example call: 2456419 NWRLBP-3247 installed. Printer withe SN: CNB9C1GBDY removed to be returned to Barlborough.
