==Workshop Process== • Workshop Engineer Assigns Unity call to himself. • Pick balance movement and collect kit from FSK location. • Check SN / Asset number match what is on the Unity ref / movement paperwork. • Workshop Refurb process (Hard drive wiped and Bundled with power adaptor) – See below for more details. • Clear To FSK / IMG. • Build machine with Viper Build Caddy (Update Part code to show build version). • Clear down to BAL / HOLD. • Close call.

• Testing machines - no one has said if there are any specs to follow ie: amount of RAM / hard drive size etc? unless I have missed it and it's in the DRAFT RE-UseCriteriaV42_20140618 MD.DOCX somewhere?

  • If any parts are missing - such as RAM, email Tom Martin and he will advise what to do with the machine.

  • T400 / T410's are now being scrapped. (Working or not). (Last I heard even if a machine is being scrapped it needs a power adaptor with it to go to RDC).

• ''Power Adaptors''. - required to be ordered for laptops if missing (Chargeable).

• ''Batteries'' - If you need to replace a battery that is older than 12 months then make sure the incident is flagged as chargeable. I would suggest at the moment we only replace dead batteries by default or apply the 75% rule if a user insists on a replacement.

• ''Hard Drives''. - Bad sectors on the hard drive: Even if it passes Lenovo Diags it appears they use bitlocker in the build, so best bet is to order a drive if it does have bad sectors as we know with Anchor bitlocker doesn’t work if the drives not 100%.

• ''Anything else missing / faulty''. - order as usual - check warranty as depending on lifespan of unit will determine if it's BER.

• ''Faulty Machines'' - Check warranty & order parts as usual depending on life left according to DRAFT RE-UseCriteriaV42_20140618 MD.DOCX. (Found in \belper1\Shared\Workshop Docs-=Account Specific=-\Viper).

Out of warranty machines and machines needing lots of parts: Clear any BER machines down to SCR / VIPx and put them on one of the following shelfs for RDC to collect: (Close call as usual). VIP1 / VIP2 / VIP3 (found halfway down AWS shelf isle).

I have asked about using one machines parts for another: Mark says: "rdc take them back so need to be in a complete state" Mark has said it's a cost per call contract, we won't make any money if we start cannibalising machines. We only make money on this from ordering parts • As per meeting 28/04/2015 with Tom Martin: DO NOT CANIBALISE MACHINES - the user that sent it in is charged further down the line for any broken / missing bits. Therefore if RDC get a machine with loads of missing bits whoever had that machine is going to end up getting all the charges even if their machine was just missing something simple like a power adaptor.

  • If base plastics have to be changed - make sure the new one has the old asset tag and serial number details (may need to print a new sticker).

• ''Machines with a build on'' - As per meeting 28/04/2015 with Tom Martin: He said as long as they arn't going out of BT (which he can't see why they would), he is happy that deleting the partition with Ubuntu or just installing the new build (When we get it or when the machine is shipped off this will be done) will wipe them sufficiently.

==Builds== [Viper Win 8 Build]

As per meeting 28/04/2015 with Tom Martin: Someone is coming to show us how to put the build on from a "flip disc" I guess it's just a USB drive and he says it's pretty much an un-attended build so not difficult to do but doesn't know any further details yet - doesn't know how long it will take etc?

  • Had another meeting 19/08/2015 with Tom Martin: Kevin Adams has the build and will be passing it to us soon. In the meantime once tested clear machine to FSK / IMG and wait for your new movement to come through then by that time we may have the image? Been told we can only install it to a certain point because we don't have "BT greensite access".

[Contingency]

==logging calls== use code: 109491 Service Type: MD44

• As with all jobs - fill unity in to include Serial number (this is the only way we will be able to trace calls on this account as machines have the same part codes).

• Clear to Balance Hold once all tested OK and hard drive is clean. Close call.

• Make sure machine has a pat test sticker on it clearly showing the incident ref - I lost one the other day and without it's ref it was very difficult to work out which machine was which as they all have the same part code.

• If a machine is picked for a live job - they are built on-site. The engineers carry a caddy to install the build.

==Clearing Down Calls== • Once imaged: Amend Part code to include build details instead of just saying "imaged" it should now state: W8.1-104 The above "W8.1-104" Needs to be at the front of the part code, followed by part number, asset number etc.

As per Tom: Please do not fill in the “Additional info / FRU” or “Manufacturer Part code fields”
