Unlike what was previously considered a tourist attraction.

Issues in many ways:

Most of Macau's satellite casinos face problems in many ways, including underdeveloped facilities, lower spending, lower wages, and difficulties in attracting young players, industry officials said.

Casinos like this are mostly visited by local communities, given that satellite casinos on the Macau Peninsula, especially residential areas, account for a large proportion of other large entertainment venues.

In a related development, Billy Song, chairman of the Macau Responsible Game Association, confirms, "Satellite casinos are no longer attractive for investment, as casino operators plan not to invest more in renewing these facilities during the three-year transition period."

Implementation plan for business improvement:

According to Song's optimistic view, "There will be different results for various properties, but the decline is real in the industry. To mitigate this, some satellite casino operators said, "Some strategies can have high ROI, even if they don't use that much source to attract customers."

"But hardware is their drawback, so we need to strengthen the quality of service to get traffic," he stressed

Satellite casino operators do not want to renovate existing facilities:

Looking back on the situation at the time, Song said, "Existing satellite casino operators have no intention of renewing their facilities as their contracts to share profits are short."

Macau has a total of 30 local casinos, a satellite casino where 11 gaming facilities continue to operate under a new 10-year gaming concession in early 2023. In addition, nine of the 11 satellite casinos are licensed by SJM Holdings Ltd, one by Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, and one by Melco Resorts & Entertainment.

In addition, according to Macau's new game law, "Satellite locations take three years to switch to a management company, and the company is not allowed to share game revenue, only receives administrative fees from the administrator."

Macau, however, shut down seven satellite casinos , before a revision to the game law was passed by the legislature.

The government has changed its idea of giving operators three years to maintain the old satellite casino system, but some operators have often decided to give up at all. The old satellite casino Million Dragon Hotel is an example.
