Djokovic advances to quarter-finals of Monte Carlo Masters tennis

Djokovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 2-0 (7-56-3) in the third round of the singles on the fifth day of the tournament in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on the 12th (Korea time).

Djokovic, who met Musetti in the round of 16 last year and lost 1-2 (6-45-74-6), avenged him on the same stage for the first time in a year, increasing his overall advantage against Musetti to four wins and one defeat.

Djokovic will face Alex Diminore (11th, Australia) in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic and Dimino have one win and one loss. Dimino won 2-0 (6-4 6-4) at the United Cup in January this year, the latest showdown.

Djokovic gave up his first serve game in the first set to take the game score to 2-4, but he overturned 40-0 inferiority and made it 4-4 in Musetti's subsequent serve game to overcome the crisis.

Djokovic, who was eliminated from the semifinals of this year's Australian Open, will try to win his first championship of the season.

She has not been able to announce her victory since the ATP Finals in November last year, which is her first appearance at a clay-court tournament this year.

Djokovic, who this week remained No. 1 in the world at 36 years and 11 months, is playing his first tournament since breaking up with coach Goran Ivanisevic late last month.

Djokovic has teamed up with coach Ivanisevic since 2018, making 12 of his 24 singles wins in major tournaments.

The quarterfinals of the tournament will be played between Djokovic-Diminoer, Kasper Ruud (10th, Norway)-Ugo Oenber (15th, France), Jannik Sinner (2nd, Italy)-Holger Lune (7th, Denmark), Stefanos Tsitsipas (12th, Greece) and Karen Khachanov (17th, Russia).
