Only Manchester United player to applaud supporters

Mason Mount stood by his supporters until the end.

The Sun, a British media outlet, said on the 2nd, "Manchester United fans began to praise Mount as soon as the whistle blew at the end of the game." As his teammates headed to the dressing room, Mount applauded the only home fans in disarray."

Manchester United lost 0-3 against Newcastle in the fourth round of the 2023/24 season EFL Cup at Old Trafford in Manchester, England on the 2nd. Mount played full time in the game, but failed to show any influence in the midfield.

Mount is an attacking midfielder who can play left and right central midfielders and both side wingers. Mount is a very active player and has excellent ability to participate in forward pressure and off-the-ball movement, helping in attack and defense. In addition, the right foot kick is quite sharp, a resource that can create chances in set pieces based on the kick or directly threaten the goal with mid-range shots.

The Chelsea native had 14 goals and 10 assists in 40 games while loaning to Pieterser from the Netherlands in the 2017/18 season. He also performed the best in the team, ranking second in the team's scoring ranking, first in the team's helping ranking, and first in total offensive points.

He followed Lampard on a season-long loan to Derby County, England's second tier, in the 2018/19 season. The season's final record was 11 goals and 6 assists in 44 games. He scored quite a few attacking points to match his title of post-Lampard. Particularly noteworthy was the pass section, which recorded about two key passes per game and a total of 71 key passes per season.

Mount, who returned to Chelsea for the 2019/20 season and secured the starting position, was heavily mediated and not considered to be Lampard's adoptive son, but he accumulated quite a few attacking points going back and forth between the second line and the midfield. He had a successful debut season with eight goals and six assists.

He has continued to grow since then, leading his team to the Champions League title. Mount played 100 games in two seasons, won the Fan Player of the Year award, and even helped him score the winning goal in the Champions League final.

But last season was different. The steel king started living with injuries and was not re-signing with Chelsea because he was not paid much. He ended up being quite sluggish overall and disappointing to fans over the issue of renewing his contract.

After moving to Manchester United for 100 billion won in the summer transfer window, he is having difficulty adapting to the club and was replaced in the recent derby against Manchester City but has shown little influence.

English football expert Chris Sutton said, "Mason Mount looks like he's in the biggest black hole in the world."

And the Daily Mail's Ian Ladyman told Sky Sports on Sunday that Old Trafford was turning into a place where good players were dying. And if Mason Mount doesn't care, it's likely to be the next target," he said.

Even though he was not good, his love for fans was no player to beat Mount. Mount appeared upset about the result as he applauded the remaining fans in the stadium. The crowd thanked Mount for his efforts and many applauded him.
