Habit Building

These are the habits I'm going to build.
I will only build two habits at a time in accordance with my habit of Moderation.

Moderation

I woke up this morning of October 29 realizing the psychology behind submission and dominance from my dream, along with the necessity of Moderation for building a life of self-control and awareness.

At first, Moderation seems like another dumb Taoist teaching where they make themselves suffer by eating less and doing less, but this morning I woke up realizing that those who practice Moderation aren't actually suffering, but in fact enjoying their lives more than those who don't practice it.

As someone who regularly binge read webtoons to satisfy my endless desire for adventure, happiness, and love, I fully know that every second of my life is focused on maximizing the number of things I can complete and enjoy.

I want my life to be lived fully, but that's exactly the reason why my life can never feel full nor complete. That's exactly the reason why I always feel incomplete, inadequate, and lacking, because a person's lifetime will never be enough to satisfy the bottomless hole of human desires.

Enough-ism

Therefore, I want to practice Moderation. I want to practice being enough and doing enough. I want to change my faith from Achieve-ism to Enough-ism.

Because I, out of all people, understands that no matter how much food I eat, how many webtoon chapters I read, and how superior I seem to be, that will never be enough to fill the emptiness and longing I feel, nor it will be enough to satisfy society's standards.

So yes, from now on, instead of always striving to be full and complete, I'm going to strive for being enough. Instead of eating three plates of food per meal, I will only eat one. Instead of filling the glass of water with water, I'll only fill it to 80%. Instead of completing all work in a day, I'll delegate other work to the next day.

Instead of expecting everything around me to be perfect and complete, I will learn to enjoy the imperfect-ness and incompleteness of things.

While this may seem like a large sacrifice, if you consider that we are always in a hurry to move on the next task to enjoy as many things as possible, instead of enjoying and appreciating every little thing to the fullest, then you'll see that this will actually give a great increase in both life satisfaction and efficiency.

Yes, that's right. This kind of habit is aligned with my newly applied philosophy of living in the present, enjoying the smallest things, and taking the smallest steps.

If my predictions are correct, then I'll be able to enjoy a threefold increase in life satisfaction and twofold increase in efficiency with this new habit.

Meditation

In alignment to my philosophy of enjoying most of life while having the least things as possible, Meditation is the perfect activity for me, for it's about being one with nothingness, enjoying the sublime peace it gives.

The meditation of nothingness, or Zen Meditation probably, is about accepting that you have nothing, know nothing, and sense nothing in this world. It's the art of finding peace and happiness within the deepest part of you in the face of complete stillness and emptiness.

I think this will be a great habit to have, but since being one with nothingness means you'll lose track of your time, it's important for me to use a meditation app that will double as an alarm to wake me up from my meditation.

I believe that this will help me remain detached from the materialistic waves of life, such that I won't quickly misidentify my sense of self with my emotions, mind, and knowledge.

Moreover, it would help me become more immersed in the beauty and reality of the timeless present, preventing my mind from wandering to the ruins of the past or fantasies of the future.

This habit shall be done every morning after breakfast before any form of phone stimulation, after a period of work, and before sleep.

With this, I shall always know that I am, living in the reality as is, and Now is the best time to act.
