An article inspired by an awesome Nightcore music of the same title.
So today, after again complaining about how I'm so cold and self-centered that no one would want to be with me or help me, I observed people.
Humans waiting for bus rides. Humans walking on their busy life. Humans begging to other humans. Humans selling food to other humans.
I saw it. The pattern. The root of the problem. I have finally realized... that it's not just me. Everyone around me is the same too. They are all cold and self-centered in relation to people they don't know, while they only care to those who are close and helpful to them.
That's what I do. That's what they do. How are we, a bunch of arrogant fools, any different from each other? Has anyone here ever seen and interacted with anything outside of rules, procedures, and formalities?
Sigh. We mind our own business... way too much. We enjoy comfort and convenience... way too much. In the end, regardless of your money and status, we are all just a bunch of fools stuck in our world, without a care about anything else. We can't see, hear, or feel anything outside of ourselves and our social circle.
The true reason why our freedom is so restricted, isn't because of ignorance or lack of skills, but because, we only try to see and move in our own tiny world. We avoid and ignore everyone else that's not part of our world.
We have completely believed that, the only thing that matters is our life, and the entire world revolves around us. This reminds me of the geocentric model of the universe that humans have believed for over a thousand years until they can literally see the ducking phases of the planets and the stars, which led to the acceptance of the heliocentric model.
Ah for some reason, this reminds me of the quote: "Blessed those who believe but who cannot see. Blessed the blind who believed with their faith, but not with their eyes."
I believe that the same thing is happening to our egocentric view of life — we believe that our life is so much more important than everyone else, that we think that the entire world revolves around our life. When in reality, our life is just as important and valuable as someone else.
That each of our lives revolve around this world like how planets revolve around the sun, and not the other way round.
Hahaha... I can't believe I made such a fatal mistake. So that's why. That's why generosity works... That's why it's said that if you give someone something, you don't lose anything.
Because... if you made the world a better place to live for someone, it becomes a better place for everyone else too since we all share the same world, so our life gets better too! That's how karma works.
It took me long enough, but I finally understand it now. I really get it now. I can see it now! I can finally see! I'm finally free!!!
You have unlocked the skill: [World Expansion]
You have unlocked the skill: [True Freedom]
For an in-depth understanding of this matter, imagine that...
Each of our lives are like a ripple in the water. The world is the ocean where our lives are placed. Whether voluntary or involuntary, we influence each other. Some ripples combine with others that they seem to become large waves. Others remain as just ripples or combine with few to form small waves.
Regardless, we are all part of this world, where we indirectly influence this world, and therefore, each other.
The reason why some people seem to have it better than the others, is because their ripple has combined with other ripples to become a wave. Although in reality, each person has the same power and strength as other ripples. They are just the same like us, they are the same humans, but they just have the backing of hundreds other humans.
The reason why some people seem to have it more awful than others, is because their ripple is either alone or has combined with extremely few people. In this case, they won't have any power or strength like a full fledged wave. Every additional generation of families combines with the ripples and waves of the previous generation, provided that they are healthy.
Therefore, each and everyone of us, have the same base value of life. They are all the same humans. Some might seem to have greater value because they are supported by many other humans, just like how any objects' perceived value increases just as how the demand increases, I'm pretty sure this was discussed in economics class.
Still, we are all the same. Our lives are equally important and influential.
Thus, it is not only right, but it is necessary that we help and interact with each other whenever we get the chance.
Just because we can finally see, doesn't automatically mean that we would know how to act. Shifting from an egocentric to a sociocentric view of the world requires a drastic change in perspective, wherein we must accept that the current principles we know to be truth, are actually a little false.
It won't be easy accepting that everything we have learned about this world are actually just one tiny part of the truth. The fact that the current society mostly ignores the individual and the individuals mostly ignore society, doesn't make it any easier for us to change the way we view the world.
The individuals are supposed to care for the society while the society is supposed to care for the individual, yet why does it seem like they ignore each other? Even when we're fully aware that we are all standing in the same ground and having the species, we still insist on formulating a thousand of excuses not to interact with each other and mind our own business.
Hmm it seems to me... that we are too attached to the things we know and see, to the things that we think are real and realistic, that we have always been secretly controlled by the things that are unreal and we cannot see.
With these eyes of mine, I can clearly see the three illusory strings that seem to restrict every individual, that forces them to see that their lives are separate and more important than others.
We have been too focused on the things that makes us so different from each other, rather than the things that makes us similar from each other. Boundaries are important for more effective communication, but now it looks like that they have become a barrier in communication, increasing the cynicism and scorn between different groups of people.
Since when did the authorities become the master and the people become a slave? Since when did the teachers cannot learn, and the students cannot teach? Since when did the leader cannot follow, and the members cannot lead?
These are only few of the many examples of how some boundaries creates a communication barrier between people.
As a rule of the thumb, if the application of a rule or law in certain instances goes against its true purpose, then it is given that those rules or laws in those certain instances are nullified without any prior declaration or warning.
There is no need for us to follow established boundaries if it would result in harm or decreased quality in communication.
We have been living in a life with so much comfort and convenience that even the smallest amount of risk can seem like a big deal to us, as if it would cause a world-ending scenario. Fear and anxiety seems to be slowly engulfing the minds of modern individuals living in the luxury of technological comfort and certainty.
Even a simple and natural act of standing for oneself or other people can feel as if we are completely surrounded by carnivorous beasts. If the cavemen from the ancient times came to the modern period and saw that we call "going to school" or "talking to others" a huge risk, they would die laughing.
Did you know? The risk of talking to others or showing your true self is actually no risk at all. The worst case-scenario isn't about getting humiliated in front of the crowd, but giving up before even trying something. I understand that it's difficult to accept, but there's definitely no monsters under our bed.
The so-called risks we have been so scared about aren't risks at all. They are simply mental illusions formed by our mind to avoid non-existent danger.
As a rule, anything that doesn't physically harm us nor cause long-term psychological harm aren't risks. Anything that is extremely unlikely aren't risks either, they are simply, "possibilities".
Know the difference.
According to the latest edition of the nonexistent tRanChorian Magazine, in the section of "Most Cringey Phrases of All Time", the phrase "I can't do it", ranks one above all other cringe phrases commonly uttered by humans. From little children to old geezers, this phrase is widely present among a diverse demographic of people.
Not only that, that phrase is also present on "Top Unresolved Debates of All Time" in the same magazine, ranking top 8 among all other topics. Critics say that the statement isn't debatable at all, because the moment people say or think that phrase, it becomes instantly true. However, many psychologists and logicians disagree, saying that the statement is never true if it's truthfulness is only caused by placebo effect.
Whether the statement is true or not, most people agree about one thing, that it's an extremely cringe phrase that shouldn't even exist as there are plenty of better and more honest alternatives.
Personally, I believe that it depends on the person whether they would make that statement true or not. My rule is that you can never say that you can't do something, unless you have tried doing it for a thousand times without making any progress, but if you managed to make even the tiniest progress, then that's a sure sign that you can do it.
If there is something we desire, something we dream of completing, then we must operate with the belief that nothing is impossible and try everything within our power to get it.
We only have to focus on what we want, on that single point, then the line between disability and ability, possible and impossible, will slowly disappear from our vision.
For us who have been clinging to these illusions for most of our lives, trying to separate these illusions from reality is easier said than done, even if we are aware of it. You can even ask my nonexistent client who was once riddled with hallucinations, and she'll say the same thing.
Fortunately, just like my client, we would be able to completely separate these illusions from reality with enough time and proper adjustment. Don't expect it to disappear immediately just because you're aware that it's an illusion, but feel free to ignore it and focus on the things you consider as real.
Currently, it seems that society is in quite a mess with all these illusions and egocentrism going on. It's in the middle of the rough transition between the traditional and the modern.
We are in dire need of new and brave thinkers, philosophers, teachers, reformers, and leaders who'll set things straight and bring the disoriented flock back to the barn.
For now, let's continue to see this world and this life for what it truly is, so that we may be able to help change the world in our own way. Even the smallest change counts.
There are no risks, there are no boundaries, we can do this.
"Everyone is interconnected. Everyone is the same. The billions of unique colors are all part of the same light."
"Society isn't your enemy nor your friend. It's just you and everyone else."
"Don't let these illusions be the strings that controls your every move. You weren't born just to become a puppet."
