"One day he'll win a Ballon d'Or"... 'Super Agent' raves about 'genius MF from '06'
'Super Agent' Jorge Mendes has praised Warren Zaire-Emery.
Speaking to France's Telefoot, Mendes said: "Xhaka is already one of the best midfielders in the world. Maybe one day he will win the Ballon d'Or."
The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) youth product has been one of the club's top prospects since he was a youngster. At just 17 years old, he made his first-team debut against Clermont Foot in August 2022.
Since then, he has gradually been given opportunities. In February, in an away match against Montpellier, Zaire-Emery started to make a name for himself, scoring his debut goal at the age of 16 years, 10 months, and 24 days. His debut goal was the youngest in PSG history and the sixth-youngest in Ligue 1 history. His final tally for the 2022-23 season was two goals in 26 league games. It was a debut season that showed promise and potential.
This season, under new coach Enrique, he has secured a regular spot in the starting lineup. Starting 10 out of 12 league games, Zaire-Emery has scored two goals and provided two assists as part of the central midfield. On Zaire-Emery, Enrique said, "He is a player who always does well wherever he is deployed. He's also a player who leads by example and is an amazing player. I can't thank him enough for what he's doing and I want to thank the club for signing a player of his caliber."
Zaire-Emerida's outstanding performance also earned him his first call-up to the French national soccer team. In November, the French Football Federation (LFP) announced the 23 players who will participate in the A-match on its official website. When Ziyir-Emerida's name appeared on the list, his PSG teammates, including Kylian Mbappe and Ashraf Hakimi, screamed and congratulated him.
Along with his call-up to the national team, he also scored a goal on his debut. In the 16th minute, after playing a one-two with Kingsley Coman in the center of the field, he neatly finished a ground ball cross for his first goal for France. Although he had to leave the field injured in the process of scoring, it was an unforgettable debut for Zaire-Emerick.
At the tender age of 17, Ziyir-Emerick is showing tremendous promise.
