Men's professional volleyball coach Kim Sang-woo (51) will take charge of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance for three more years.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on the 15th that it had renewed its contract with Manager Kim.His contract period is three years, and other terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Coach Kim is evaluated as having effectively improved the team structure since taking office as Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance manager in April 2022.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance is cruising to 4th place in the league this season (42 points, 16 wins, 12 losses) and is approaching its first 'spring volleyball' in 6 seasons.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has not advanced to the postseason for five consecutive years since the 2018-2019 season.
It ranked 7th in the 2020-2021 season, 6th in the 2021-2022 season, and 7th in the 2022-2023 season.
The Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance team said, "We highly evaluated the ability of coach Kim Sang-woo, who is showing rebuilding results with excellent leadership and management skills," and added, "We look forward to continuing to operate and develop the team with a mid- to long-term perspective."
Coach Kim only played for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance from 1995 to 2007 during his active career.During this period, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance won the championship 9 times (8 times as an unemployed person, once as a professional).
After retirement, he debuted as a professional manager at LIG Insurance (now KB Insurance) in 2010 and served as the head coach at Woori Card (2015-2018).
