Suwon, led by head coach Yeom Ki-hoon, will play a home game against Asan FC in Chungnam Province in the first round of Hana Bank K League 2 2024 at Suwon World Cup Stadium at 2 p.m. on the 3rd.

Suwon, which was founded in 1995 and has been playing in the K League since 1996, suffered the humiliation of being demoted to the second division for the first time since the introduction of the promotion system last season.

The second division is bound to be relatively less interested by fans.

However, Suwon's popularity, which has the most fandom in the K-League, remains unchanged in the second division.

According to Suwon club officials, 13,000 tickets have already been booked for Suwon's second-division home opening game.

This is more than last year's home opening game when he was a member of the first division.

13,348 spectators visited the home opening match against Gwangju FC on February 25 last year.

It is not possible to know until the exact number comes out depending on whether or not it is sold on-site, but more fans are expected to visit the second-tier relegation than last year's home opening match.

Reporters are also enthusiastic. More than 20 media visited the match between Suwon and Asan in South Chungcheong Province.

Coach Yeom Ki-hoon, who is about to make his debut as Suwon's official head coach, showed confidence in the home fans' desire to be promoted.

"Of course, it is a game that we have to win," Yeom told reporters before the match. "Our goal is promotion. We will make fans' concerns high. We will prepare for the result as well as the contents."

"Striker Jun Jin-woo is in good condition. I asked him how many goals he would win before today's game, and he said it was 5-0. That's how confident the players are," he stressed.

Yeom, who said he would play "first-punching soccer" to get promoted to the first division, said, "We promised to do what we had prepared even if the game did not go well. Attack is the answer to get promoted."

Chungcheongnam-do Asan manager Kim Hyun-seok, who will make his debut as a professional coach, said, "Even if a rich man fails, it will last for at least three years. Suwon is a team with a big power gap with us," but added, "We will do our best."
