Yosvani wins third career Round 1 MVP award
Mega becomes first Asian Quarterfinalist to win the honor
Samsung Fire men's player Yosubani (32) and women's player Jung Kwan-jang (24) were named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the first round of the V-League.
"Yosubani and Mega were selected as the MVPs of the first round of the 'Dodram 2023~2024 V-League'," the Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) announced on Monday.
Yosubani received 26 of the 31 votes cast by the men's press corps. Matei received three votes, Jeong "Chung" Yong-ryong received one vote, and there was one abstention.
This is Yosubani's third career Round 1 MVP award. He previously won MVP in the first round of the 2018-2019 season and the sixth round of the 2020-2021 season.
Yosvani led the first round in scoring with 161 points, while also leading the open offense with a 56.18% success rate. She is third overall in offense with a 55.81 attack percentage and fourth in serving with 0.33 errors per set, leading her team to five straight first-round wins.
On the women's side, Mega received 15 of the 31 first-place votes from the media. Silva received eight votes, Kim six, Vukiric one and one abstention.
Mega scored 138 points in the first round, ranking fourth in scoring and second in offense with a 48.46% attack success rate.
She also ranked second in open offense (49.23% success rate), behind the arc (40.91% success rate), and quick offense (51.22% success rate), helping her team to four wins.
Mega was honored to become the first Asian Quarter player to win the V-League MVP award.
