Lee Jae-sung's Team Mainz' Svensson Resigns Due to Poor Performance

Bosvensson, manager of Lee Jae-sung's team Mainz, stepped down from the coach position due to poor performance.

Mainz, a member of the German Bundesliga, said on its official website on the 3rd that it has decided to go their own way under an agreement with Svensson. Jan Zibert, who was the coach of Mainz U23 for the time being, will take over as interim coach and lead the RB Leipzig match on the 4th.

Mainz suffered a 0-3 complete defeat to second-division team Hertha Berlin in the second round of the German Football Association Cup (DFB Pokal) at Olympiadion in Berlin, Germany on the 2nd. With the current record of no wins (three draws and six losses) in nine games since the opening of the league, the early elimination of Pokal is very painful. Mainz, who decided to make a change, finished accompanying Svensson for the development of the team.

"We discussed how to resolve the negative situation that has been going on over the past few weeks," Mainz Sports Director Christian Heidel said, adding, "We deeply appreciate his dedication."

Svensson also said, "It's very difficult to say goodbye, but I feel like now is the time. "I have played for Mainz for 16 years and that experience will shape me for the rest of my life," he said. "Mainz must work together to overcome the current crisis."
