Universalysis

A better version of Situationalysis, where I try to listen to what the universe is trying to tell me.

Common Theme

My life is completely stagnant and I'm experiencing the painful consequences of this stagnation. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me to change? If so, what kind of change?

If the universe wants me to learn to talk to people, then the easiest way to do that would be to send a real-life friend for me who'll teach me about conversations. However, this doesn't seem to be the case.

Therefore, let's look at all my current problems right now and try to find a common recurring theme among all of them.

  • Personality restraint from family
  • Inability to converse due to social anxiety
  • Stagnation and resistance to change
  • Unable to find a proper job
  • Difficulties enrolling in a university
  • Unable to stay in the present moment
  • Complete suppression of sociosexual self

Writing this stuff really makes me feel bad for myself, but I don't need anyone's pity. If someone were to tell me that their problems are like this, then the first thing in my mind would be "how the hell are you still alive?".

Now, are we seeing a common theme in all those problems? For now, I'm only seeing these themes:

  • Isolation
  • Unwillingness to change
  • Indifference to life

Proposed Solutions

Hummm... all these problems seem to form an incredibly complex knot entangled within each other and completely tying me down. I cannot solve one without solving the other, which means I can't solve these things one by one, leaving only very few solutions to the problem.

Hmm if I have to guess a few solutions to the problem, it would be:

  • Willingness to change
  • Complete immersion in the present
  • Embracing the stupid and the mundane
  • Some miracle

We considered the possibility of a miracle, like someone coming to save us as if we're a damsel in distress or a prisoner in the dungeon.

Plausibility Analysis

But is that Miracle really possible? And is the solution of waiting for a miracle to happen completely viable?

Suppose that a miracle did happen. Like I suddenly got new friends, my family suddenly got nicer, a mentor personally came to teach me, I got an awesome job, and all kinds of stuff.

Now what? Are the problems really solved? No, it's not. It's not the end of the path that matters, but the experience of going through that path.

Simply put, if miracles are going to happen, then none of these should have happened in the first place unless the universe is trying to tell me to believe in miracles, which is stupid, since I already believed in them.

The Answer

What the universe is trying to tell me, isn't to believe in miracles but to finally make a decision and take my own path. It doesn't want me to suffer, but it wants me to make my own decision to become stronger.

My path huh... I see. I understand it now. The common theme where all my problems intersect.... is the fact that I have never made a proper decision about my path.

I only follow orders, fulfill obligations, and comply with demands. I have done nothing to make a single real decision in my life.

The Path

The solution to all these problems here, isn't just to do something, but to decide what kind of path I will take from here onwards. To choose what kind of life I want for myself, then prove it with my actions.

This means that the only way for me to untie this knot, is to make a decision to untie it myself without waiting for anyone's orders or permission.

Just because I now understand what the universe is trying to tell me, life isn't going to get easier, I'll just become less confused. Just because I know what to do, doesn't mean I'll actually do it.

As far as I know, the universe is going to keep sending me consequences of suffering to increase my tenacity and potential willpower until I had enough willpower to make my own decision or completely lose my sanity, whichever comes first.

This means that I'll only be able to pass this phase of my life once I made my decision. Then everything will automatically change once I have made my decision. It would be funny if I died first before passing this phase of my life.

Evidence and Reason

Honestly, doing this sheep alone is extremely difficult, even for me. I need to look for some evidence that the universe isn't really trying to make me suffer.

Yes, I have my doubts, since anyone with my personality in my place would have probably lost their sanity years ago. Being locked alone in an isolation room for many years isn't a joke.

7 Reasons that the Universe isn't Trying to Make Me Suffer

  1. I am allowed to have fun and take rest as much as I want.
  2. I am allowed to ignore the main quest, just helplessly wander around and forever stay in the comfort of my home.
  3. I have been provided with free food, shelter, clothing, internet, and a smartphone for an indefinite period of time.
  4. I have been given a powerful spirit guide for me to remain level-headed most of the time and gives me advice whenever I ask.
  5. I have been given some guardians of destiny to protect me from negative spiritual interventions and help me grow.
  6. I am allowed to do whatever I want in this life, for the small price of consequences. It's like "get anything you want, pay later".
  7. If I ever hate being born into this world so much without my consent, I am allowed to reject this life and lie down in a coffin.

Humm I take it back, it's clear as day that the universe is not trying to make me suffer. In fact, it's way too nice to me. This only makes me feel like a whining child that cries and complains about not getting a toy. Yikes.

Then what were the reasons that made me think that the universe is trying to make me suffer?

7 Things that Made Me Thought that the Universe is Trying to Make Me Suffer

  1. I didn't get a perfect childhood.
  2. I didn't get any friends. (Flashbacks to 1000 times someone tries to talk and befriend me while I ignored them)
  3. My life seemed empty. (Flashbacks to me doing nothing except play games and read webtoons all day long)

Hmm nevermind, I'll stop writing there. Let's just talk about something different haha.

Looks like the universe is actually doing its best to be fair and nice to me. It's not even doing anything whenever I try to blame it just to hide my own stupidity.

Universal Contract

It seems that the universe invested a lot of things in me. For that reason, I can't give up nor take all of these things for granted. Maybe I should really do my part of the contract.

(Wait, what contract?)

Quest

The main quest, I want to see my current progress at the main quest.

Main Quest:
Make a decision.

Difficulty: C
Time Limit: None.
Reward: 1000 gold, plus choose one of the following: [Friend], [Job], or [Education].
Punishment: None.

Current Progress:
Breathing Mastery (3/5)
Psychological Awareness (4/5)
Perfection of Techniques (3/5)

Notes: This quest looks scary! Let's complete all these stuff first before trying to complete the quest so we won't take any damage: Breathing Mastery, Psychological Awareness, and Perfection of Techniques.

The notes I have written on this quest many years ago seem really stupid. It looks like I'm grinding too hard and going too far just for a stupid C-difficulty quest. Maybe I should finish this as fast as possible.

Let's take a look at the winning conditions.

Win Conditions:
(Complete at least one of the tasks below.)

  • Insist on what you want (0/3)
  • Make enjoyable small talks (0/5)
  • Don't be treated as sheep (0/3)

The winning conditions reek of so many conflicts and misunderstandings, I understand how my peace-loving past self avoids completing the quests and focuses on self-improvement.

However, according to the 6th Reason that the universe is not trying to make me suffer, I can do whatever I want, the consequences only comes later and not during the act after all.

Therefore, it's possible for me to complete all these win conditions immediately and then deal with the consequences later when the quest is completed. That means it is of complete certainty to do what I want, then the uncertain consequences that might not even come are going to happen later.

Ahahahahah I get it now! So I can't get hurt before I get to do what I want. This is an extremely interesting loophole indeed. As someone who doesn't want to get hurt, it changes everything. EVERYTHING.

This explains why the quest is only C-difficulty despite how difficult it looks at first glance. I have now completely changed my perception of the quest from something impossibly difficult to extremely trivial.

Perhaps I should complete this quest after all? Hmmm, I'll consider it.
