Tigers left-hander doesn't worry about running out of spring water

Kia Tigers left-hander Kim Ki-hoon does not have to worry about running out of spring water. Kia pitcher Kim Ki-hoon, who is a junior directly under the big pitcher, displayed clean pitching with just five pitches in his first appearance in the Futures League this season.

KIA started its doubleheader schedule at Seosan Hanwha Eagles in the Futures League on May 8.

KIA won the first game of the doubleheader 4 to 2. In addition to Park Jung-woo (three hits and one run scored) and Oh Sun-woo (two hits, one homer and three RBIs and one run scored), starting pitchers Kim Hyun-soo (five hits, three strikeouts, two walks and two runs allowed) and Kim Dae-yu (one hit and no run allowed in 1.1 innings), and Park Jun-pyo (one hit and one strikeout allowed) were in charge of seven innings.

KIA immediately played the second game of doubleheader. KIA scored the first run in the top of the first inning with Park Jung-woo's lead-off hit and Kim Doo-hyun's timely triple. Oh Sun-woo's ground ball RBI subsequently added another run.

However, starting pitcher Choi Ji-woong allowed two runs in the bottom of the first inning, scoring four hits and a walk.

In the bottom of the second inning, pitcher Kim Seung-hyeon, who changed his position, turned the tables by hitting a timely double by Jeong An-seok, with one out and a runner on the third base. He then got a timely hit by Lee Sang-hyuk, the follow-up batter. In the ensuing crisis with one out and runners on the first and third bases, the KIA bench put Kim Ki-hoon on the mound.

In his first appearance in the Futures League this season, Kim struck out Im Jong-chan with three pitches and secured his first out count. Kim, who faced off Kim In-hwan, hit a ground ball in front of shortstop at the second pitch to prevent additional loss and tie the inning. Kim pitched to Yoon Joong-hyun before his defense in the bottom of the third inning.

KIA succeeded in reversing the game 5-4 in the top of the fourth inning with leadoff hitter Park Min's solo home run, Park Jung-woo's timely hit, and Kim Doo-hyun's ground ball RBI. Later, the game was tied again in the bottom of the sixth inning, but KIA won 7-5 with Byun Woo-hyuk's two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning.

Kim Ki-hoon, who displayed good pitching in his first appearance in the Futures League, returned home early from the spring camp for the first team ahead of the opening of this season. Kim started to elevate himself separately from the Futures League team as a special management measure for the team, but only took his first appearance in the Futures League in early May after long preparations. Attention is focusing on whether another work by Son Seung-rak, coach of the Futures Team, will be released. The kingdom of left-handers of the Tigers is still solid.
