Health Care Update

Yesterday afternoon, the U.S. Senate passed a “Motion to Proceed” vote on health care legislation. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and all Democratic senators voted against the motion. Last night, Senate Republican leadership was unable to pass an updated version of the “Better Care Reconciliation Act” (57 senators opposed the bill). The Senate is now expected to continue efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but may explore narrower changes to the current law. This approach is known as a “skinny repeal.” These proposals still threaten to gut Medicaid and other health care coverage for millions of babies, children, youth, older adults and their caregivers.

Call your Senators today 202-224-3121 and insist they protect our health care. Reject every attempt to take away coverage from millions of people.

It is also helpful to call your governors and urge them to publicly oppose efforts to take coverage away from millions of people
