It was estimated that Shan was able to escape with a billion to three billion dollars.

The suspect was believed to have embezzled funds and been on the run for more than two years.

Reports have now surfaced that the Shan state government has recently been detained in Cambodia for his crimes.

Yesterday, the Macau Game Information Society reported that Shan was located in Cambodia. MGIA was created early for the junket industry to preserve the rights of game investors and operators. The group claims Shan was relocated to Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. The individual is reportedly guarded by a creditor representative. It was not known if the money had been recovered.

Before the crime, Shan was drawing attention from the junket industry by promising investors that he could provide a 2.5% monthly return on a stake basis. This is slightly higher than the normal 1-2% that usually occurs. This promise brought investors to Shan, which allowed him to embezzle funds. After the incident with Shan, other incidents began to occur in the junket industry, which led to consolidation within two years as several small junket operators went out of business.
