Paradise, GKL boost casino revenue in October
South Korea's foreign-only casino operator Paradise Inc.'s gaming sales rose 21.2 percent on-month to 46.9 billion won in October. The sales rose 119.9 percent year-on-year, according to data submitted to the Korea Exchange on Wednesday.
Paradise's table game sales rose 22.6 percent month-on-month to W43.5 billion. Machine game sales rose 5.8 percent to W3.39 billion.
As a result, Paradise's first 10 months of 2022 casino sales totaled KRW 263.85 billion, up 25.7% year-over-year.
Paradise's casino division consists of Seoul Walkerhill, Jeju Paradise Jeju, real estate in the port city of Busan, and Incheon Paradise City (pictured) with the latter operating through Japan's Segasammi Holdings Inc. and ventures.
In South Korea's foreign-only casino division, Paradise Co.'s rival Grand Korea Leisure Inc. (GKL) said in a Wednesday filing that casino sales rose 37.3 percent to 34.82 billion won in October. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the report showed an improvement of 275.5 percent.
Grand Korea Leisure's table game sales rose 43.2 percent month-on-month to W32.32 billion in October 2022. Machine game sales dropped 10.2 percent sequentially to just over W2.5 billion.
Grand Korea Leisure's tally of casino revenues for the year to Oct. 31 rose 173.9% year-on-year to nearly 206.42 billion won, data showed last month.
Grand Korea Leisure is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The casino operator, under the Seven Luck brand, operates three foreigner-only casinos in Korea: two in the capital city of Seoul and one in the southern port city of Busan.
