Anti-Meta

I've always been an anti-meta player. There's nothing more enjoyable in a strategy game than making your own decks, inventing your own playstyle, and fighting others with it. It's a little tragic though. I've always been beaten by the meta slaves most of the time. No matter how hard I try, I often get stomped by countless people using the same playstyle and same deck.

But during the few times that I win, I'm the happiest and proudest person ever. It's the pride that comes from deciding your own path, rather than following someone else's. They say that pride comes before the fall, that much is true. But would you rather win without pride?

No, I cannot bear to live in a world betting on popular strategies other than the ones I created myself. That's right, I am indeed too weak to be thinking in this way. I'm neither skilled nor rich, neither powerful nor smart, unlike the geniuses of history who carved their own path out of sheer brilliance. Maybe my life and my future would definitely be better if I simply follow the meta like everyone else. But is that a life worth living? I've always known that my pride would be the one to spell my doom, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

I shall defy this world until my very last breath.

Countless humans have asked me, "why did you dropout in your last year of college?"

I gave different answers to each of them. Sometimes I said it's for my mental health. Other times I said it's because it's difficult. Another I said it's because of my thesis. They're not wrong answers. But what is really the truth?

Perhaps the truth is that I just wanted to experience how it feels to become a dropout, to take the gamble that I might be that one in a million genius who can succeed without the need for society's approval. But ah, that answer would be too insane for their fragile minds, wouldn't it?

Maybe the truth it that I just wanted to reclaim my dignity, pride, and self-respect, from the institution that was almost about to rob them all and turn me into an empty husk, to make me one of the gears that would empower this tyrannical machine of capitalism for the rest of my life. But ah, that answer would be too insulting for their oil-pumping hearts, wouldn't it?

With these decisions I've made in the past several weeks, my insanity is becoming clearer to the people around me despite my intentional lack of speech. It's quite disappointing. I've always wanted to stay low-key, then once I'm in a position of power, I'll give them the greatest reveal and plot twist of all time.

"HAR HAR HAR! YOU SHALL REGRET MAKING ME POWERFUL. ANNIHILATE!!!"

But right now, it won't be surprising if they see me as a dormant bomb that could explode anytime, as a non-explosive volcano that sometimes leaks lava but doesn't have an explosive eruption. No need to fret, I can still surprise them with the intensity and radius of the explosion.

I have to give them extra points for their security. I didn't expect that they'll completely break their minds first before giving them a position of approval and power. Not even the greatest spies can deal it. Well, maybe they can, I'm just not skilled or creative enough to do it too.

Regardless, the plan continues. Maybe it would actually be easier to follow it now that I'm a rogue.

Let's see just how far my pride can take me. Heh.
