A new desert diamond casino has opened in Arizona

The Tohono Odum Games Company (TOGE) yesterday broke ground on its new Desert Diamond Casino facility located near Loop 303 & Northern Parkway in Glendale, Arizona. The first phase of the new facility will have a 184,000-square-foot casino floor with 900 Class III slot machines, poker rooms, retail sportsbooks, table games including Blackjacks, Crab's, roulette, and baccarat, as well as dining and other amenities. Early-stage construction will also include a 3,400-space parking structure and ground parking. Construction of the $450 million project is expected to last for about 19 months.

JCJ Architecture led the design of the new facilities, which will expand into hotels, conference centers, outdoor swimming pools and recreational amenities, amphitheaters, and event lawn spaces. Project construction is led by Hunt / Penta Joint Venture as general contractor and will create more than 5,500 construction jobs. Once completed, the full-fledged casinos and resorts will employ approximately 1,300 employees.

"Today is a special day for all Toho-Odham," said Ned Norris Jr., the president of Toho-Odham's national committee. "We are keeping our promise to provide for the next generation of tribal citizens. This milestone is serving as an important milestone in celebrating progress as a nation."

The property of the new facility is located on 80 acres of protected areas in unincorporated Maricopa County, west of Glendale, Ariz. The land has already been trusted by the federal government under law. The process was similar to what was done for the first West Valley facility in 2014.
