Twelve Toronto-area colleagues shared the main encore award
The Ontario Lottery and Game Company unveiled another week and another set of lottery winners. A group of 12 electricians and colleagues from the Toronto area cashed in their C$1 million prize during the encore draw on December 17, 2022. This group will now divide the heavy windfall evenly among the members.
Encore is a bonus lottery game across Canada that offers an additional 22 ways to win with just one Canadian dollar. Players can increase their encore play from one to 10 times, earning between C$2 and C$1 million in prize money. You can add to Daily Keno, Pick-2, Pick-3, or Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Ontario 49, Lotto Rio.
This week a group of 12 electricians from the Toronto area arrived at the OLG prize center on December 17, 2022, to win C$1,000,000 in the encore draw. The group also won an additional 20 Canadian dollars with a 6/49 lottery number. If 1,000,020 Canadian dollars are distributed evenly between them, they each account for 83,335 Canadian dollars.
The 12 winners are from Toronto and the neighboring areas of Whitby, Oshawa, Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, Everett, Brampton and Mississauga. The win was discovered by Tomasz Palanowski, who checked his ticket through the OLG app and called others to tell them the news. Michael Gavros said he almost didn't answer the phone because he thought it was a work call.
Some of the winners plan to spend part of their windfall on savings, while some want to pay off their bills and fix their homes, while others are considering traveling around the world. The winning ticket was purchased on December 17, 2022, in Petro Canada, Burnhamsorf Road, Etovick, in time for the Lotto 6/49 draw.
It's only been two months since the new year began, but Canadian ticket holders have already bought amazing products. In February, the major winner of C$48 million was announced from Sault St. Marie in Ontario. This was the first time I bought a lottery ticket for 18-year-old Juliette Lamour, who is now thinking about how to spend the main 6/49 jackpot.
Following her grandfather's advice, the student bought a ticket for the Jan. 7, 2023 lottery, eventually bringing her a life-changing windfall. A portion of the prize money will be spent on investments for a much brighter future. Meanwhile, the teenager is still dreaming of becoming a doctor and practicing in Northern Ontario, and she won't have to worry about grants or loans.
Last month, Lotto-Quebec identified another major winner. This time, Jean-Marc Poirier from La Naudier, Quebec, wants a solid C$36 million win through the 6/49 version of the Lotto. Mr. Poirier's win was for the history books, as his windfall was the country's first luck to win a new gold ball.
