RGB Unaffected by ban on games outside Philippines

Malaysia-based casino electronic gaming and services provider RGB International Bhd said it was "unaffected" by the ban on offshore online gaming operators announced in the Philippines.

On Monday, Philippine leader President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO), now known as IGLs, would have to finish their operations in the Philippines by the end of the year.

As of July 16, there were 38 IGL licensees and seven temporary licensees to offer games to international customers, according to the Philippine Entertainment Gaming Corporation, the Philippines' gaming regulator. On Tuesday, Pagcor's president and CEO Alejandro Tengco said that 43 licensees are currently in operation.

"RGB International Bhd's Board of Directors wants to reassure all stakeholders that RGB is not affected by POGO at all...I said."

"The board would like to reiterate that no slot machines were sold to POGO," the company added.

RGB said its slot machines are sold only to operators of integrated resorts, casinos and slot clubs licensed by Pagcor in the Philippines.

It added that it remains "firm and solid" on its business outlook in the Philippines.

In June, the company said it plans to open a new facility in Manila, the country's capital, this quarter.

The space includes a new showroom and a "training hub and repair center for customers," Chuah Eng Meng, the company's senior vice president of sales services and marketing, told GGRAsia.

The new facility, which covers about 700 square meters (7,535 square feet), will be located near Manila's Entertainment City casino district. The move is aimed at supporting the company's regional expansion and ensuring its business growth will "continue" for years to come, the executive said.
