Preview Codelab is a Chrome extension that allows users to quickly switch between a Google Doc and its corresponding Codelab preview (and vice versa). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it.

This policy explains how the extension handles your information.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing history, or document content.

The extension:

  • Reads the URL of your active browser tab when you click its icon, only to determine if it matches a supported Google Docs or Codelabs page.
  • Fetches the codelab.json file from a Codelabs page to locate the linked Google Doc.
  • Performs all processing locally in your browser.

3. Permissions Explained

  • tabs – Required to check the current tab’s URL to decide if the toolbar button should be active and what action to take.
  • https://codelabs.developers.google.com/* – Required to fetch the configuration file from published Codelabs pages.

These permissions are not used to track you or access unrelated browsing activity.

4. Data Sharing

We do not:

  • Transmit any data to our servers.
  • Share any information with third parties.
  • Use analytics or tracking tools.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on the page where this policy is published, with the updated effective date.
