Tottenham vs Newcastle 'show, show, show' as Son Heung-min 'scapegoated' by Almiron

The Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United match featured a number of "nutmegs" (balls between the legs) that left opponents baffled.

The Premier League (PL) shared a short, 15-second video on its official social media channels on Thursday, asking, "How many knockbacks were there between Tottenham and Newcastle?"

The video highlights five knockbacks from the match. Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusebski were highlighted, as well as Pedro Foro, who fooled Lewis Milley. Joelinton, in particular, was unfortunate to allow Spurs players to break through on several occasions.

Son Heung-min also fell victim. He tried to stop Miguel Almiron, but the ball went through his legs. The fans applauded the players who managed to break through with a calm nutmeg despite the tense situation. There were also comments in support of Joelinton, who stood out the most (?).

The two teams faced off in the early hours of Monday morning in search of a win. First, Tottenham had gone five games without a win: against Chelsea in round 11 (1-4 loss), against Wolverhampton in round 12, against Aston Villa in round 13 (over 1-2 loss), and against Manchester City in round 14 (3-3 draw). Newcastle have also been disappointing in the league this season, winning one, drawing two and losing four of their seven away games. So it was a real battle between Tottenham, who were desperate to get out of the winless streak, and Newcastle, who needed an away win.

Son Heung-min was the star of the show. Both Destiny Udoji's first goal in the 26th minute and his second in the 38th minute came from assists. The rest of the way, Tottenham ran away with the game with a Heung-Min Son penalty kick (PK) wedge and a Joelinton consolation goal in stoppage time. In the end, it was a 4-1 win for Spurs.

With a goal and two assists, Son made history. He became the seventh player in history to score in double figures in eight consecutive PL seasons, joining Thierry Henry, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney, and moved into 23rd place on the PL's all-time top scorers list with his 113th league goal. Son rescued Tottenham from the brink and helped them escape with a draw.
