"Should Stay Away From Public Opinion During the Contest"

Jürgen Klinsmann, a former "Star Player" coach of the national soccer team, covered players who were criticized for the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.

The Korean national soccer team, led by head coach Klinsmann, conducted training at the Al Eglah Training Center in Doha, Qatar on the 21st (Korea time).

Korea tied Jordan 2-2 in the second Group E match at the Asian Cup on the previous day. Notably, if it had not been for the opponent's own goal in extra time in the second half of the match, Korea could have lost the group match at the Asian Cup for the first time in 17 years since 2007. Disappointed with the result and content of the match, some fans even criticized players online.

In this regard, coach Klinsmann advised, "It will not be easy, but it is better to keep a distance from public opinion during the tournament."

"I respect the criticism against the national team. The national team can express different opinions in a way that goes well," he said. "I have not paid much attention to the competition and public opinion. I hope all the players will take part in the competition comfortably and with concentration."

"Not all players including Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) can perform well in every match. There are ups and downs," he said. "The important thing is to accumulate points and advance to the round of 16 teams. The points are not bad right now. From the round of 16 teams, the mood will change completely."

"There is no problem with the goal scored at all. Everyone worked hard and it came out," he said, expressing trust that he is not too worried about the players.

The national team usually takes a day off without training the day after the game, but it had an unusual training session on this day. The Taeguk Warriors seemed to calmly devote themselves to the sport without being swayed by the criticism they had directed at them.

"We were dissatisfied with the first half of the match against Jordan, so we thought we needed to revise it as soon as possible," Klinsmann said, explaining the background of the training. "We have a lot of time to rest until the next match. We need to revise the parts to be supplemented first."

Meanwhile, South Korea will play its final group match against Malaysia at 8:30 p.m. on the 25th at Al-Zanub Stadium in Al-Wakra.
