SNS post setter Kwak Myung-woo, who went down quietly, canceled the trade due to his conviction
According to the OK Financial Group club on the 12th, Kwak Myung-woo was recently sentenced by the court to six months in prison, one year of suspension and one year of probation for violating the Communications Secret Protection Act and injury.
Prior to this, Cha Young-seok and Kwak Myung-woo's trade posts, which were uploaded first through each club's SNS, quietly disappeared, putting weight on the possibility of canceling the trade between the two teams.
Earlier on the 19th of last month, OK Financial Group announced that it gave up setter Kwak Myung-woo to Hyundai Capital and made a trade with middle blocker Cha Young-seok to receive a first-round pick of the rookie draft for the 24-25 season.
Kwak Myung-woo is a founding member of OK Financial Group (then Rush & Cash) as the first choice in the second round of the 13-14 season. He started as a backup of captain Lee Min-kyu and rose to the starting lineup, and even after becoming a free agent, he played only for OK Financial Group.
After the 23-24 season, many fans expressed their doubts when the news of the trade of the main setter Kwak Myung-woo was reported.
In response, OK Financial Group coach Ogiino delivered a brief answer in an interview with MHN Sports, saying, "For the next season's generational change," but did not elaborate.
However, even after that, the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) did not disclose the trade between Kwak Myung-woo and Cha Young-seok for a long time.
Later, it was belatedly known that Kwak was convicted by the court during the 23-24 season. After the formation, Kwak continued to play in matches and even played in the championship game. Since then, OK Financial Group has sought to trade Kwak.
In response, OK Financial Group claimed, "I learned about Kwak Myung-woo's trial only after the trade discussion was over."
He also added that he asked KOVO to withdraw the disclosure, saying that he could not reveal the details due to the player's personal identity issues, but he belatedly learned about the judicial process (of Kwak Myung-woo).
In OK Financial Group, Kwak Myung-woo became an unsavory issue just over a year after the suspension of military service corruption status by Apogit spiker Cho Jae-sung.
According to Chapter 3, 10.1 of KOVO's reward and punishment regulations, members who commit serious social and criminal acts such as sex crimes, violence, drunk driving, illegal drugs, gambling, match fixing, racism, past school violence, human rights violations, and the like will be disciplined. Kwak Myung-woo, who was convicted, is also highly likely to be disciplined under the provisions.
