Coach Kang was selected as one of the five defensive girls for four consecutive seasons from the 2003-2004 season and was named the MVP of the championship game in the 2005-2006 season, making his name as a competent guard during his active career.

Coach Kang, who finished his career at Incheon Electronic Land, the predecessor of Korea Gas Corporation in 2013, joined the Korea Gas Corporation's coaching staff through Samil Sango and Changwon LG coaches, and this time he was promoted to the head coach.
