Srivi on art / making as meditation
In traditional art practices, art was considered another way of meditation and reaching the divine , so when u practice any kind of making you first arrive at a state of calm. Having processed your emotions, you reach a place of rest (hrdayavishranti) and from this then begin to create art. It’s not about expressing your personal emotion alone, but about being able to transcend them and universalise them. this practice is akin to meditation. we also believe that the artist is like the creator and hence art making is a way of mimicking the creative process of life, so when u make u meditate on life to grasp he very creative and generative principle of life
fundamentally it is an entwining of bhoga and yoga - enjoying life in all its fullness, the lila, creative play of life in manifestation as the bhoga shakti and the ability to witness it with gentle calm in yoga shakti - that is the movement of the heart in balance.
