"OWGR's lack of accuracy and transparency"... Kevin Na fell 938 notches

LIV Golf has withdrawn its application for world ranking points.

Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and Golf Channel U.S. media reported that LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman informed players on the 6th that he had finished his efforts to earn world ranking points. Norman said, "It is now clear that the best way for LIV and LIV golfers to go is not through the current ranking system."

Since its launch in June 2022, LIV Golf has been making efforts to gain recognition by the official World Ranking System (OWGR).

However, the OWGR did not recognize LIV Golf's 54-member no-cut method and the third-round operation. The reason was that LIV Golf lacked fairness with other leagues due to its limited membership path, lack of a player promotion system, and competition with teams at the same time.

Since then, LIV Golf has had no choice but to withdraw its request for recognition because the two sides have not changed much and have actually run parallel. Greg Norman criticized, "OWGR has shown little willingness to cooperate productively with us," adding, "The current ranking system is inaccurate and not transparent in evaluating world-class players."

Only four LIV Golf players have moved in this week's world's top 50, John Rahm of Spain, Tyrrell Hatton of England, and Brooks Koepka of the U.S., a five-time major champion, and most of the former players have seen poor performance. Cameron Smith of Australia, who was ranked second in the world before the move, is now ranked 50th, while Dustin Johnson of the U.S. has gone down from 15th to 266th. Korean American golfer Kevin Na of the U.S. dropped a whopping 938 notches from 34th to 972nd. Major winner Bubba Watson of the U.S. dropped 1526 notches from 86th to 318 notches from 215th to Martin Kaimer of Germany.

The official world ranking is used as a yardstick for participation in four major competitions and the Olympics. Currently, LIV golfers are very unlikely to participate in major competitions and the Olympics. Thirteen LIV golfers will participate in the Masters Tournament, the first major competition of this season, which will take place next month.
