The Appleslice was designed to be compact and easy to use as an all around wing foil board. The flat bottom and hard rails make for quick release onto the foil with enough width to be stable even in choppy water. All Carbon Construction - 5'7" x 25.6" x 4.74" thick Waterprood foam wrapped in pre-preg carbon fiber.

* Stub01 review from reddit Over the winter I bought a 110 L Appletree board which is night and day easier to get up in every condition (including super light winds).
Appletree appleslice, kalama E3, Armstrong FG are all great boards and have efficient take off. They do cost a decent amount.
The other piece to consider is it just takes time to lock in form. 8-12 knots was unthinkable when I started, now I can consistently pop up in those winds. The Appletree board did help a ton.

I'm on my third Appletree board and have had nothing but good experiences - aside from production delays, which seem to be the norm.
I don't feel like the boards are as "indestructible" as some people make them out to be, but they hold up very well and are relatively easy to repair. The fact that they don't take on water is also very beneficial and makes repairs simpler. I definitely wouldn't call them brittle, and I haven't had any pinholes on the three boards I have.
* Johnny Depp I have an Appletree. The hardest board to dent / crack I have. Had it thrown onto a rocky beach, had it flown to Spain and Italy a total of 12 times now. Not a single dent yet. Cracking board! :-)
