'Kang Hyun-jun's 3-point show' KCC came from behind to beat Haenam Plus... Day 1 of the competition ends with two wins out of two


Jeonju KCC beat Haenam Plus 33-23 in the secondary school match of the 2024 Year-end Youth Basketball Competition with TyPE at Wooseul Gymnasium in Haenam, South Jeolla Province on Sunday. They finished the tournament's first day with two wins out of two.

KCC had a bad start. In particular, their offense was not good. They failed to score even a single field pitch in the first quarter. KCC, who failed to score an attack, ended the first quarter 0-5.

KCC slowed down Haenam Plus' scoring speed. Due to its strong defense, the team failed to score points for nearly three minutes in the second quarter. It seemed that the team narrowed the gap with Haenam Plus to 2-5.

However, KCC rarely scored. They kept missing easy chances. As a result, they were pushed to 5-12.

The KCC bench asked for a timeout. KCC players did a full-court press after requesting timeout. It stopped Haenam Plus from advancing. Afterwards, it followed Haenam Plus with three points and a layup. It finished the first half 10-12.

Kang opened the game with three points. Ryu Dae-seung scored in the paint zone. KCC came from behind 15-12 less than a minute before the start of the third quarter.

KCC`s upward trajectory has slowed down for a while. Both offense and defense failed to go as desired. It was 16-16 before the end of the third quarter.

Kang Hyun-jun broke the balance again. He hit a 3-pointer from the right wing 33 seconds before the end of the third quarter, and he hit a 3-pointer at the same time as the buzzer ended the third quarter. KCC, which almost shook hands, finished the third quarter with a score of 22-16.

Leading the team by six points, KCC was no longer swayed. They showed their strength. It was a difficult start, but they laughed in the end. They finished the first day of the competition by tying with Hyundai Mobis as the first place winner.
