Daegu FC appointed Park Chang-hyun, head coach of Hongik University, as the 14th coach on the 23rd.

Daegu appointed Park Chang-hyun as its new head coach. Park made his professional debut in 1989 and finished his career after playing for Pohang Steel and Jeonnam Dragons.

After retiring from active duty, he gained leadership experience on the high school and college soccer stages since 1997, and was appointed as Pohang Steelers coach in 2008 and entered the K-League as a leader. Coach Park showed his ability as a leader for three seasons, helping his team win the FA Cup (currently the Korea Cup), the League Cup, and the AFC Champions League, and served as Pohang's acting coach (7 wins, 8 draws, 6 losses) for seven months from May 2010.

Since 2017, he has coached college players at the helm of Hongik University until recently. He was the runner-up at the Taebaeksan Mountain Autumn College Football Association last year, and was unbeaten in five games at this year's U-League, putting his team among the strongest in college football.

Coach Park is a leader who excels in discovering potential and strengths of players. Hwang Jae-won, a defender who was coached by Park when he was a student at Hongik University, is currently playing in Daegu.

The Daegu club said, "Coach Park is a veteran leader with 27 years of on-the-job experience, ranging from high school to professional, and he is a coach who can understand and overcome the current situation facing the club. We expect it to be of great help in effectively controlling the younger players. We expect him to lead the team in a stable and good manner during difficult times."

Coach Park said, "It's an honor to take the helm of Daegu. I'm confident that my career in the field is second to none. My goal is to lead the team in a stable situation and rise to a high position, and I will do my best to secure a place in the Final A. I will do my best to meet fans' expectations."

Coach Park will meet with the team on the afternoon of the 23rd, and will make his Daegu manager's debut in the 19th round of the Hana Bank K League against Jeonbuk Hyundai on the 28th.
