The Hanwha Eagles, the ninth-place team in the Korean Baseball Organization, have made adjustments to their first team roster.
Hanwha removed pitcher Lee Tae-yang and outfielder Lee Jin-young from the first team roster on Saturday. The team will sign a pitcher and outfielder to fill the vacant roster spots on Sunday.
Lee made a relief appearance against KIA on April 4 but struggled, allowing five runs on six hits (one homer) with one walk and five strikeouts in ⅔ innings. Lee was needed as a temporary starter while Moon Dong-ju was sent down to the second team for a pitching retooling. Lee started the opener, but didn't last past the first inning, and Hanwha suffered a 2-10 loss.
In 23 games this season, Lee is batting .575 with 11 hits (11-for-55), eight RBIs, nine runs scored and a .575 OPS. In his last 10 games, he is batting just 2-for-16 with one RBI and three runs scored, dropping to the second team.
Hanwha has fallen to 3-7 in its last 10 games, dropping to ninth place with a 14-21 record on the season. KT, riding a three-game winning streak, is in eighth place, half a game ahead of Hanwha. Hanwha hosts last-place Lotte for a three-game series starting on July 7. Lotte (11-1-22) is two games behind Hanwha.
SSG Landers lost veteran left-hander Ko Hyo-joon to injury and is out of the first team roster. Ko has appeared in 18 games (14⅓ innings) this season, posting a 2-5 record with a 5.65 ERA. He struggled against the NC on April 4, allowing three runs on two hits, one walk, and one strikeout in ⅔ innings.
According to the SSG organization, Koh reported discomfort in his right hamstring after the game on April 4. He underwent a medical examination on June 6 and was diagnosed with a partial injury to his right hamstring. He will undergo another examination in two weeks, and his timetable for return will be determined after that.
The Doosan Bears removed outfielder Kim Tae-geun from the first team roster. Kim, who was primarily used as a pinch-hitter and pinch-runner, was batting 1-for-5 (2-for-16) with one RBI and one run scored.
