SON, you were the first to come when you had a baby

Son Heung-min (32, Tottenham), who has reached the milestone of playing in 400 Tottenham games, personally shared his impressions.

"It's a special milestone to play 400 games for our club. I'm so proud of myself and my family," Son said on his social networking service on Sunday. "Although I didn't get the result I wanted in the match against West Ham just before, I feel happy and proud to look back on the time I have spent with you guys," Son said. "Thank you so much for making London my second home."

In the away match against West Ham in the 31st round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) held at the London Stadium on the 3rd, Son played full-time as a starter. This marks Son's 400th game as a Spurs player. Only 14 players including Son have played in more than 400 games in Tottenham's history. Son is the first non-European and Asian player.

Tottenham teammate and defender Ben Davies also congratulated Son. Davies said on Tottenham's official website that he had known Son for nine years. "I have known him for nine years. It is a world class. I am very happy to know him both inside and outside the stadium." "I remember when he first came to Tottenham. He instilled energy into the team with his pure passion for soccer."

He also praised Son's prowess in a World Class style. "He has shown incredible technique and ability to finish with right and left feet," Davis said. "His scoring record has been consistent enough to make no sense. I had a hard first season, but I scored double-digit goals almost every season."

He also praised Son's personality. "As Tottenham's captain, Son always leads by example as Korea's captain. All of his actions contribute to the team," Davis said. "The first person to visit me when I had a baby is Son Heung-min. You can see his personality."

In addition, many soccer stars, including Harry Kane, the "fantastic partner" who has worked with Tottenham for a long time, Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, and Ki Sung-yueng, who played for the Korean national team, left congratulations in comments.

Son moved to Tottenham in 2015 and has played for nine seasons. He has scored 160 goals during his 400 games. He ranks fifth in Tottenham's all-time scoring history behind Kane (273 goals), Jimmy Greaves (266 goals), Bobby Smith (208 goals) and Martin Chevers (174 goals), who ranks fourth.

In the 2021-2022 season, he scored 23 goals in the league, becoming the first Asian player to become the joint top scorer in the EPL. Last season, he scored 10 goals despite unexpected negative factors such as orbital fractures and sports hernia, making double-digit points.

He is showing off his stellar performance in this season as well. Although he had been away from the team for more than a month due to participation in the 2022 Qatar Asian Cup, he tied for fifth in the goal tally with 15 goals in the league. He is only three goals ahead of Erling Holland (Manchester City), who is ranking first in the league, and thus deserves a chance to become the top scorer in just two years.

It is not the only problem. Son scored one goal and two assists in the 16th round against Newcastle in December last year, and set a new milestone. He became the seventh player in EPL history to score double-digit goals for eight consecutive seasons. This category's best record is Wayne Rooney who scored double-digit goals for 11 consecutive seasons. Frank Lampard (10 seasons), Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero (9 seasons) follow. Son Heung-min, Thierry Henry, and Sadio Mane scored double-digit goals for eight consecutive seasons.

Son is currently spending a special season with manager Enze Postecoglou. His teamwork was good from the first time around. He became the first captain under Postecoglou. Tottenham officially announced the appointment of Son as its captain at the beginning of the season. Hugo Lloris, who was the captain until last season, is likely to leave the team, while Harry Kane, the vice-captain, has moved to Bayern Munich. There were speculations that Dyer, who was vice-captain until last season, might wear the captain's armband, but Postecoglou's choice was Son Heung-min. The vice-captain was James Maddison, a "transfer student," and Christian Romero, a key center back.

Son became the second Korean player to captain the EPL team. Prior to this, Park Ji-sung served as the captain of the Queens Park Rangers (2012-2013 season). For the first time in 11 years since Park, Son will captain the EPL team as a Korean player.
Is it because of the armband? Son has been showing remarkable performance since the opening game of the EPL. He can become the top scorer with 15 goals in the league. Tottenham is in a good mood, too. As it ranks fifth in the league with 17 wins, six draws, and seven losses (57 points), Tottenham is aiming to advance to the UEFA Champions League.

A flurry of compliments are being given to Son, who has changed his position to the front-line striker this season. CBS Sports in the U.S. recently reported that Tottenham now has front-line striker Son Heung-min, and Tottenham is enjoying an attractive season under Coach Enze Postecoglou. However, early in the season, Harry Kane could not help worrying about his absence. The front-line striker still failed to score a goal. Hishalisson was the starting pitcher in two matches after the opening of the season, and I felt frustrated. "In the past, Son perfectly demonstrated why he played the ninth role in Kane's position whenever Kane left the team," he said. "Postecoglou is leading Tottenham in the right direction."

Postecoglou is also giving Son high praises throughout the season. According to the BBC recently, Son (Son Heung-min) has performed really well. He is an excellent leader who leads by example in training every day. He leads our pressure line brilliantly and scores goals. He is an excellent player who takes advantage of opportunities. I am very happy to be with Son." On using Son as a front-line striker, he said, "Sonny can play anywhere. This is why we did not recruit a front-line striker, but he is capable of playing in that position."
