Short track speed skating Park Ji-won and Hwang Dae-heon clash again.

Short track men's ace Park Ji-won collided with Hwang Dae-heon again, showing the worst performance, and a red light was turned on for the selection of the national team for the next season.

Park Ji-won failed to advance to the final with a time of 1:16.175 in the second group of the men's 500m semifinals in the first round of the short track national team for the 2024-205 season at Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul.

Park Ji-won, who was ranked second in the men's 1,500m the previous day and scored 21 ranking points, failed to win the men's 500m ranking points and fell to third place in the overall ranking.

The next season's national team will be determined by the total ranking points of the six individual events for the first and second trials, and the top three men's and women's individual competitions will be given priority.

Park Ji-won competed against Hwang Dae-heon, Park Jang-hyuk, Park Noh-won, Kim Dong-wook and Shin Dong-min in the second group of the men's 500m semi-final.

Starting from the first seed, Park Ji-won started the race in second place, while Hwang Dae-heon trailed right behind.

The collision occurred on the first lap and the third curve.

Hwang Dae-heon squeezed the in-course and overtook Park Ji-won, and in the process, Park Ji-won stumbled and was pushed back and hit the fence.

Park Ji-won regained her senses and resumed the race, but it was too much to close the distance.

The referee did not award a penalty for the scene.

Hwang Dae-heon made it to the finals in second place, and Park Ji-won was eliminated.

The referee of the match was seen by Italian international referee Alexadro Mauri.

Hwang Dae-heon, who advanced to the final, finished fifth and received five ranking points.

This is the fourth time this season that Park Ji-won failed to win a medal due to a collision with Hwang Dae-heon.

In October last year, Hwang Dae-heon was given a yellow card (YC) and all points were confiscated for a severe foul on Park Ji-won, who was running ahead of the ISU World Cup in the second race of the 1,000m race.

In the men's 1,500m final at the ISU World Championships on March 17, Hwang Dae-heon forced his way into the in-course and pushed Park Ji-won into his body, receiving a penalty.

And the next day, when Hwang Dae-heon gave Park Ji-won the lead in the men's 1,000m final, he used his hands to make a push foul.

Park Ji-won failed to win a medal in all three events.

In particular, he lost his qualification to automatically select the national team for the next season because he failed to win a gold medal at the world championships.

Park Ji-won, ranked No. 1 in the world in the 2023-2024 ISU World Cup series, will be uncertain about her participation in the 2026 Milan/Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics due to her mandatory military service if she fails to be selected for the national team next season.

Hwang Dae-heon, who received military service benefits, will be able to participate in the Olympics regardless of the selection of the national team for the next season.

Lee Jung-soo topped the men's 500m with a time of 41.181 seconds, followed by Kim Gun-woo (41.218) and Kim Tae-sung (41.225).

In the women's 500m held on the same day, Shim Suk-hee ranked first with a time of 43.749, while Lee So-yeon and Choi Min-jeong ranked second and third.

Tomorrow (7th), the men's and women's 1,000m events will be held at the same place.
