ICE Africa launches in London

More than 300 game industry experts attended the ICE Africa launch event held on the opening day of ICE London, the world's largest game technology event.

Commenting on ICE Africa's launch, Kate Chambers, executive director of Clarion Gaming, said, "While ICE Africa may not be the same size as ICE London, we will bring the same level of commitment, thinking, creativity, and professionalism that has made ICE London the world's favorite B2B gaming event.  We launched in Africa following industry requests to develop and organize professional showcases that the continent can be proud of, and tonight's launch highlights the industry's enthusiasm for our latest event."

The response from attendees at the launch was equally positive. Tristan Katche, director of Casino Sun International, said, "ICE Africa represents an important vehicle for bringing Africa together. Historically, larger operators tend to focus on events in Las Vegas and London, but Clarion's commitment to the country highlights that while the African market ensures the same size over time, there are also new growth opportunities. Africa's development potential is huge, and this launch demonstrates just how much potential operators and international companies see in the market."

Discussing the reputation of Clarion's London event, Katz said: "We're here in ICE London because the whole industry is under one roof and right now we're not only going to see what's available in the industry, but we're going to see what's available in the future."

Reflecting these factors, John Kamara, director of Global Gaming Africa, explained: "First of all, according to the African Union, Africa is full of brilliance, and we would like to tell operators to join us as we walk with you into this emerging market. Having an ICE brand in Africa allows us to showcase new opportunities in the market, from rising growth potential to direct international investment and disposable income, so the potential for operators is huge.

"Africa has a population of 1.6 billion people, representing almost 52 countries, 68 percent of whom are under the age of 27. Africa is a very exciting market and offers so many different opportunities across different countries. Africa is already known for its emerging markets and, according to recent data, the World Growth Bank is showing more growth going forward, so what better time to start the event?"

Highlighting his decision to travel to ICE London, Kamara added: "ICE is a place where everything melts. It's like a huge iceberg where everyone melts together in one business and opportunity. We're here to sell the African dream, and ICE is the place to do this."
