87,000 websites containing banned data , including 15,900 that provide online gambling-related services.


Roscomnazor explained that the number of banned websites discovered in the 12-month period was up 30% , while Internet service providers successfully blocked about 52,000 websites, forcing them to remove an additional 34,500.

The regulator detailed that it received over 127,000 illegal website reports from the public , but later rejected about 40,000 of these reports as unfounded. It stated that the domain providing gambling-related services received the second most complaints and was only ahead of the 22 prohibited information categories featuring "extreme data."

Of the websites offering reported gambling-related services, Roskomnadzor succeeded in permanently closing 12,561 and more than 6,500 were known as online casino domains, which, along with poker sites, are explicitly banned under Russian law.

Moscow-based regulators say other categories of banned websites include drug trafficking and some forms of pornography, with reports of domains offering gambling-related services up nearly 153 percent during the second quarter of this year compared to the first three months .
