Reunited with his 'No.1 best friend' from Hamburg days

Son Heung-min reunited with his best friend since Hamburg's days.

Tottenham Hotspur will play a friendly match against Newcastle United at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, at 6:45 p.m. on the 22nd.

Ahead of the match, Coach Enze Postecoglou and Son Heung-min attended an official press conference. At the meeting, Son said, "My friend is here and he wants to meet me. He has joined Melbourne this season and plays, and it would be nice to meet my friend here."

Known as Son's best friend is Tolgaiah Aslan. The two of them were close friends who spent time together in Hamburg. Son joined Hamburg Youth in 2008 and made his professional debut in 2010. He then continued to wear Hamburg uniforms until 2013. Aslan made his professional debut in Hamburg in 2009 and played until 2016.

Son dreamed of reuniting after a long time, but things were not easy. "It would be nice to meet my friend here again, but since it's the last game of the season, I want to go back home as soon as possible after the game. But I think it would be nice to have a chance to look around." Tottenham will completely wrap up the season after a friendly match against Newcastle. Son Heung-min is also reportedly coming back to Korea.

Local journalists asked who it was exactly. "Tolgaia Aslan. She is actually one of my best friends," Son said. In an interview with the Bundesliga's official channel in 2012, Son said that Aslan and I took pictures of the Bundesliga rankings and saved them on our cellphones to motivate ourselves.

Aslan has always remembered Son as well. In an official interview with the A-League in November last year, Aslan said, "We were young players in the first team. We had amazing times together 24 hours a day. We slept a lot together and his mother cooked for us. Until today, we have a good relationship. I am so happy for his career."

Is it a coincidence? On the day, Son faced Aslan. The official Australian A-League social media channel shared a picture of the two players, who met, hugged and shared the picture together with the phrase, "It's a beautiful moment after Tottenham's open training." "Son told the media that Aslan was one of his best friends, and they reunited a few minutes later," he said.

After playing for Hamburg, Aslan continued his professional career with Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Udinese. He also moved to Melbourne City last summer and is currently active.
