Nagaworld Can Open Mass Set for Fully Operated Casino

Casino group Naga Corp Ltd said it was allowed by the Cambodian government to reopen "all casino businesses," including public market game tables.

Nagakov announced earlier this month that it had negotiated a deal with the Cambodian government to allow the VIP table game and slot machine business to reopen as part of its move away from COVID-19 response measures from July 8. In a commentary to GGRAsia on July 9, Nagakov's chairman, Tim McNally, said the resumption of the VIP and slot machine business had generated a "very positive public response."

Nagakov said in a filing with the Hong Kong exchange on Sunday that he had received confirmation from Cambodia's health ministry that "the group is not opposed to reopening all casino businesses consisting of public markets, VIPs and slot game console businesses."

The confirmation was made through an annex to a memorandum of understanding signed between Nagakov and the health ministry on June 30. The document contains a set of rules set by the ministry to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 at the Nagarwold complex.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on July 3 casino operators across the country will be able to resume operations once they meet health requirements to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 at their respective venues.

Each operator must sign a memorandum of understanding or agreement with Cambodia's health ministry on implementing the rules to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Only after receiving a certificate of approval from the ministry can the company resume its gaming business.

Naga Corp received the clearance certificate on July 5th.

All casinos in Cambodia have been temporarily ordered to close since April 1 as part of a number of measures aimed at preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19 infections.
