Mandalay Resort Group has signed a lease with more than 40 boutique retailers and restaurants set to open this fall at Skyway Mall

which connects the company's Mandalay Bay with Luxor Casino, the newspaper reported on July 25.

"Over the next month or so, the company expects to name retailers that will take up about 100,000 square feet of overhead walkways," said Gordon Absheer, a spokesman for Mandalayman in Business Las Vegas, a sister paper of the Las Vegas Line.

The mall will open for the second time in Las Vegas this year. The Las Vegas Premium Outlet, a 435,000-square-foot outlet mall, will open downtown on Aug. 7.

Mandalay Resort Group has so far been vocal about upcoming retailers. The company is developing the project itself instead of working with retailers. It is expected to cost $30 million to $40 million.

The retail stores will be boutique stores, which are unique or one of the few similar stores worldwide, without naming them. "You won't find these retailers in other shopping malls," he told In Business. "It's a collection of retailers like nothing else in Las Vegas."

The company's second 1,122-room tower at Mandalay Bay is expected to open in November. Absher said both the room tower and the mall are expected to open in the fall, but not at the same time.

"The timing of the mall shows Las Vegas' retail and economic outlook is rising again," real estate executives told InBusiness.

CB Richard Ellis Resort Broker Carlton Gear said the retail addition was a "natural progression" for the evolving retail mix in Las Vegas as well as Mandalay Resort Group.

"Retail and hotel revenues have been growing at a greater rate than gaming revenues for years," Gear said. "Las Vegas has been able to transform into a retail destination as well as a gaming destination. Retail is critical to the overall retail combination of what tourists look for in Las Vegas."

The name of this mall is Mandalay Place.
