'South American World Cup' Copa America, 2024 finals held in Miami


10 South American countries 6 North and Central American countries participated

The schedule for the Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL) Copa America, known as the 'South American World Cup', has been confirmed. The opening match will be held in Atlanta, USA, and the final will be held in Miami.

The South American Football Confederation announced on the 21st (Korean time) that the 48th Copa America will begin with the opening match at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 21st next year and end with the final to be held at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on July 15th.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the opening game will be held, is shared as the home of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL) and the Atlanta United of Major League Soccer (MLS).

When used as an American football field, it can accommodate about 71,000 people, and when used as a soccer field, it can accommodate about 29,000 people.

Hard Rock Stadium is the home stadium of the NFL Miami Dolphins and is a multi-purpose stadium where soccer and baseball can be played. The capacity is said to be approximately 65,300 people.

In this competition, 10 South American countries and 6 North and Central American countries, including the 'defending champion' Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Peru, will participate and compete.

Participating teams in North and Central America will be decided through the 2023-2024 CONCACAF Nations League, which will be played by Mexico, Honduras, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Jamaica, Costa Rica and Pamana.

CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez expressed hope for a successful hosting of the tournament, saying, “We look forward to the best Copa America of all time.”

CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani also delivered his greetings, saying, “Atlanta and Miami will be great hosts. Both stadiums are world-class, and these cities have passionate sports and fans.”
