Verse of the Day

A meaningful verse for the Wednesday before Easter (often called Holy Wednesday) is:

Matthew 26:14-16 (NIV)
Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

This passage reflects the events that traditionally mark the Wednesday before Easter, when Judas plotted to betray Jesus.

Reflection:
Matthew 26:14-16 reminds us of the weight of betrayal and the weakness of the human heart. Judas’s decision to trade loyalty for silver shows how easily we can surrender to selfish desires or fear. This passage calls us to examine our own hearts during Holy Week: Are there ways we compromise our faith for comfort, approval, or gain? Christ’s quiet endurance in the face of betrayal invites us to trust in God’s plan, even in sorrow.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, as I reflect on Judas’s betrayal, I see my own moments of weakness and failure. Forgive me for the times I have let fear or selfishness guide me away from You. Strengthen my heart to remain faithful and help me to walk in courage and love. Prepare me to embrace the hope of Your resurrection. Amen.
