Next stop for PokerStars is Russia

Sochi, Russia will be the penultimate destination on the European Poker Tour (EPT) circuit as the new EPT Open Sochi tournament, with a lower Main Event buy-in of RUB 132,000, comes to Casino Sochi between 21-29 September.

Players can now gun for Main Event packages worth $3,100, including expenses and accommodation, via a variety of satellites that start at just $22.

EPT Open Sochi, sponsored by PokerStars, will feature lower buy-in tournaments and run for a shorter period compared to standard EPT events. The tournament schedule will include the RUB 132,000 (approx. $2,125) Main Event with a RUB 60,000,000 (approx. $1 million) guarantee as well as the RUB 258,000 (approx.$4,150) High Roller. At least one of the five Platinum Passes to the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) on offer throughout the Open will be awarded to the Main Event winner. The coveted Platinum Passes, worth $30,000 each, include the $25,000 PSPC buy-in, accommodation at the Atlantis Resort, and $2,000 towards food and travel costs.

As well as excitement at the tables, players will have the chance to meet PokerStars Ambassadors, get free merchandise, and shift gears to enjoy all that the luxury holiday resort has to offer. There’s also the chance to combine two adrenaline-packed pastimes into one adventure. EPT Open Sochi will take place just before one of the world’s most popular forms of motor racing which starts on 28-30 September at Sochi Autodrom, giving poker fans even more action and reason for an extended stay on the pearl of the Black Sea.

“It’s great to see the EPT returning to Sochi but with a slight twist as the EPT Open Sochi,” said PokerStars Ambassador Mikhail Shalamov. “The smaller Main Event buy-in this time around will make it a brilliant opportunity for players of all bankrolls to play on home soil and give Russian players the opportunity to take to the felt against some of the best players from around the world. At the EPT event earlier this year there were more than 1,300 players from 61 different countries!”

EPT Open Sochi will be the fourth PokerStars-sponsored event to take place on the Black Sea coast since 2017, following on from EPT Sochi in March which brought in a total prize pool of more than $5 million, almost double its original $2.6 million guarantee.
